The Midwest Sled Dog Symposium is pleased to announce our 2018 keynote speaker:
Mike Ellis began mushing in 1993 in New Hampshire as a dog handler. The mushing bug bit hard and the next summer he moved to Two Rivers, Alaska for a stint as a handler there before coming back to NH to start his own kennel of purebred Siberian huskies with his wife Sue in 1998. Since then, they have run and raced their doGs from Fort Kent to Nome and more than a couple places in between. Their kennel has moved to the hills north of Fairbanks, Alaska and has gone on to compete in 9 Yukon Quest’s and two Iditarod’s, setting new records in both races for a purebred team of dogs. Along the way, they've picked up numerous Vet’s Choice awards including at the Two Rivers 200, Copper Basin 300, GinGin 200, and the Yukon Quest. Besides racing, they’ve done numerous trips with dogteams to Alaska’s Arctic and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Tsuga Siberians kennel is based on a philosophy and mantra of ‘Respect your doGs’ and strives to maintain a happy and healthy kennel where doGs can maximize their potential and both work and play hard, but also simply enjoy life.
The 2018 Midwest Sled Dog Symposium and Teacher's Conference will run on Friday, September 28th and Saturday September 29th.
